MEDIA ADVISORY: Registered Nurses’ Union Newfoundland & Labrador (RNU) to hold rally calling for investigation into the use of private agencies to deliver public healthcare
ST. JOHN’S – Despite government pouring more than $36M in less than five months into a private agency, access to health care has not improved.
Profit doesn’t care.
Nurses will be rallying at Confederation Building to demand government stop privatizing health care. Nurses will also demand the Auditor General investigate the massive amounts
of dollars being poured into the pockets of private businesses who are only concerned with maximizing their profits.
Who: Nurses, healthcare workers, friends, families, and members of the public joined by Yvette Coffey – President of RNU, and other union leaders.
What: Public rally protesting the privatization of healthcare and calling on Auditor General to investigate the sole sourcing of contract with Canadian Health Labs, including the wasteful and questionable spending on things such as $1.6M on meals.
When: 12 :00 PM to 12:30 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2024
