CFNU President Linda Silas appointed to federal Union-Led Advisory Table

“As the largest part of the health care workforce, nurses’ voices are an important part of discussions on how to help workers in the face of a changing labour market,” said Linda Silas, President of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU). “I am honoured to have been appointed to the Union-Led Advisory Table and thank Minister O’Regan and Minister Boissonnault for ensuring frontline nurses are represented at this important table.”

The Union-Led Advisory Table, which met for the first time today, has been established by Employment and Social Development Canada to provide expert advice to the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages, the Hon. Randy Boissonnault, and the Minister of Labour and Seniors, the Hon. Seamus O’Regan, in support of government priorities.

This follows the Government of Canada’s commitment in Budget 2022 to launch an advisory table that brings together unions and trade associations to advise the government on priority areas for helping workers navigate the changing labour market.

“Whether we’re solving challenges in the health workforce or the broader labour market, collaboration is key,” Silas said. “I look forward to what we can achieve together for nurses and all workers.”
