To recognize the past 50 years, RNU is putting together a shadow box that will be showcased in the main lobby of the Provincial Union Office. We are looking for donations of memorabilia from over the last 50 years. Do you have any old pins? A retro license plate from 1999 strike, when Brian Tobin was Premier? A copy of our first collective agreement? Any other items? If you have any items that youāre willing to donate, please connect with us atĀ info@rnunl.ca.
RNU50 ANNIVERSARY LOGO
Back in December, RNU launched a 50th Anniversary Logo Design Contest for our members to create our #RNU50 commemorative logo.
Weād like to congratulate Heather Tracey, the winner of our logo contest! Heather is a nurse practitioner who describes herself as a āNomadic Northern Nurseā. She resides on the east coast of Newfoundland but does travel locums to Labrador, Bonavista, and other areas in the province in need.
Heather told us that she was feeling inspired to create this logo during an NP Webex meeting with RNU leadership and NPs. The themeĀ Stronger TogetherĀ stuck out to her.
āI was sitting in the meeting and thinking, āWe are stronger togetherā. Whether itās registered nurses or nurse practitioners, we are stronger together. Senior RNs and junior RNs working together are stronger together. Whatever your specialty, we are stronger together. I looked back at the union and the last 50 years. I thought our old logo should be incorporated into our 50th anniversary logo to commemorate our seasoned RNs and NPs who have been around since the beginning. I thought merging both logos was the best way to show that we are stronger together.ā
RNU is in the process of finalizing the design so that it can be reproduced on special commemorative items. Keep an eye out for these special items!
